Hello my Pop Clouds!! We’re almost half-way through 2022, can you believe that?? Feels like the year has just flown by. And one of the reasons it’s gone so fast is because we’ve had one of the most RuPaul’s Drag Race heavy years so far. In 2022 we had RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World, and most recently Drag Race España season 2. Well this march of Drag Race franchises continues with one of the most eagerly awaited seasons so far. Yes children, we’re FINALLY getting an all-winners season of this ever popular franchise. But instead of making it yet another stand-alone series, RuPaul and World of Wonder decided to incorporate this into a special edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars with the next chronological season 7. This season of crowned queens is full of recent winners as well as a few from when Drag Race was first getting known. Regardless, it’s going to be one of the fiercest seasons of All Stars yet. So join me as I re-introduce the cast, give you a brief rundown of their stats, and then review their promotional looks.

Say Hello Again to the Queens

Time to re-introduce you to the queens/contestants coming back to the Werk Room for this all-winners seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. I will be listing them in alphabetical order.

First up is Drag Race season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall. A lot of people lately refer to her as the robbed queen due to the fact that she was the only queen that won her crown in the living room of her home due to the quarantine that occurred from COVID-19. As a result, she didn’t get to experience winning on a stage in front of a roaring audience of supporters. She did though get an awesome motorcade parade down her block at home from her fans with gifts and cheers of support. The video is on YouTube and I strongly recommend seeing it. And then during her reign, she didn’t get to travel much. Viewers are now seeing AS7 as an opportunity for Jaida to show why she won her season. Added to that, if she wins this All Stars season, she will get the opportunity to tour as a current winner and experience what she lost due to the Corona virus.

Before I start with my review of Jaida’s promo look, just a few notes for all of you:

  • The theme for the promo images for All Stars 7 is nude and crystal (or you can say naked crystal illusion).
  • And when I review the looks:
    • If I like a look I will give it a Sunny Cloud.
    • If I don’t like it, I will give it a Rainy Cloud.
    • And if I think a look has gone above and beyond anything shown that week, I will give it a Bright Sunny Cloud.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get started.

Jaida Essence Hall

Jaida is known for being a fashion icon and her promotional look showed that to the extreme. Her naked crystal look is amazing. I think what I love the most is how everything just works so well together: from her gloves, to the body-suit with crystals hanging on the sides, to her leggings just effortlessly blending into her heels. And her face is immaculate with the front up-do that is has hints of crystals frosted in layers. I give this look a Sunny Cloud.

Will Jaida earn her second crown to become the first winner of winners?

Jinkx Monsoon

The next queen on our list is one of the earlier winners of Drag Race which is season 5 winner Jinkx Monsoon. Almost 10 years after being crowned a winner, Jinkx is back to show how she has changed in that time. For those not aware, Jinkx has been quite busy since winning. She has been mostly busy touring with her very popular vaudeville act with fellow lead actor Major Scales. And added to that she has done shows with Drag Race season 6 and All Stars season 3 contestant Ben DeLaCreme. Most notable is The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special which can viewed on the Hulu streaming app (as of the posting of this article). Jinkx is now back to introduce herself to a new generation of Drag Race fans. She’s best known for her amazing portrayal of Little Edie from the movie Grey Gardens in Snatch Game during season 5. She launched the idea that just because your Snatch Game character isn’t well known, you can still be very funny with it. And Jinkx is also the only contestant so far to have narcolepsy (a neurological disorder that causes people to feel very sleepy or sometimes even just fall asleep at any point during the day).

Jinkx’s promo look is definitely very true to her aesthetic. When looking at it, I get a little bit of a throwback to her season 5 promo look but with a total glow-up. The full length gown covers her entire body with a nice dip for cleavage in the front. She places the crystals in just the right places on the gown and on the sleeves of her gloves to give it a nice shiny accent. I also enjoyed the minimal crown she placed in her hair. The only issue I have with this look is that it doesn’t fit the nude part of the theme except for maybe the sleeves. But she looks like an ethereal queen so I’m going to give this look a slightly Sunny Cloud.

Will Jinkx be able to use her humor and voice to snag a second crown?

Monét X Change

Next up on the list is a queen who is one three making a third Drag Race appearance as a contestant and one of two who won in the same season: Monét X Change. She originally appeared on Drag Race season 10 and placed 6th. She did win the coveted Miss Congeniality award during that season though. So you could say she was a winner to a degree. She then went on to make her first All Stars appearance in season 4 where she claimed a place in Drag Race herstory to share a crown with another winner (and now fellow All Stars season 7 contestant) Trinity The Tuck. To date, we have not had any joint winners on any Drag Race franchise. Many are wondering if Monét is back yet again to try to win a crown on her own or if Trinity being on the same season again is a rivalry she’s trying to rise above. Monét is known for pulling out some amazing and original looks on the runway. Most notable is her sponge look from season 10 in which she cut up a bunch of green and yellow Brillo sponges and placed them all over a gown during a fashion challenge. Since then Monét has had a total glow up and seems to have embraced looks that embrace plaid with a bit of a ratchet twist to it.

Monét’s promo look is one of the best to date. The dress has a cool geometrical design to it with a mesh fabric that definitely gives a nude illusion yet fulfills the crystal theme as well. She adds her ratchet thot aesthetic with the shortness of the dress combined with the puffy crystally jacket and the simple strappy heels. I really like how she wears the jacket with one sleeve on and another sleeve off and hanging from her arm. But I have to say my favorite part of this look is her medusa snake-inspired hair. I can see her just giving her enemies a stare-down which causes them to turn to stone. This look has impressed me quite a bit so I’m going to give it a Bright Sunny Cloud! Go Monét!!

Will Monét’s humor and fashion be enough to give her not only a second crown but her first solo one?

Raja

Coming up next is our fashion and queen and earliest winner: Raja. This queen was the winner of Drag Raceseason 3 and has become a total fashion guru. She impressed viewers and show judges during her first appearance. She became known for her epic super-model walk on the run way as well as pulling out looks that were inspired from fashion designers all over the world. World of Wonder was so impressed by Raja that they went on to ask her (along with Drag Race season 2 contestant Raven with special guests co-hosts from time to time if Raven was unavailable.) to host Fashion Photo Ruview in which they “Toot” or “Boot” the looks from contestants each week from various Drag Race franchises (you can catch censored videos on YouTube and uncensored videos on the Wow Presents Plus streaming app). This is probably where most fans know her from today. Raja is also the most senior of the cast this season having done drag for over 20 years. She now embraces a gray color in the wigs she uses while still drawing inspiration from the runways all over the world. She also has a bit of a fun, quirky side of her personality. Her entrance look into the Werk Room from season 3 was iconic due to a purple hat she wore that covered her from head to chin and had a very cool eye design on it. Judging from the looks she has done in various promotions for this new season, we’re going to see the eye be a main focus in a lot her looks.

Raja’s promo look is just so typically her in such a great way. She is wearing a saggy nude illusion body suit that is covered in crystals. She adds arm-length gloves that are covered with crystals in the same way. But it’s the jacket that I love the most with this look. It’s such a great mid-thigh mesh robe that is accented with crystals and reflective stones. And she is sporting a great necklace and her hair is amazing. I even noticed that she stoned the bottom of her raised heels. This is a Sunny Cloud look for sure.

Will Raja’s fun personality and epic fashion repertoire be enough to score a second win?

Shea Couleé

The next queen up is another third time contender: Shea Couleé. Shea originally appeared on Drag Race season 9 where she tied for third place. She then came back for All-Stars season 5 and won. Shea is known for having amazing looks on the runway but also being a total classic and comedic performer. She initially broke through in the acting challenge on season 9 playing the octogenarian high schooler Andrea Zuckerwoman. But she was most recently known for her portrayal of popular rapper Flavor Flav in Snatch Game of Love during All Stars 5. Shea also has also brought many iconic looks during her seasons on the show. Some of the most notable including her All Stars 5 matching dress and hat box look and construction worker Village People runway look.

Shea has epically slayed yet again with her promo look for this upcoming All Stars season. Her combination nude/crystal body suit is a total flawless illusion. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that the crystals were growing off of her skin. It covers her entire body from the chest/arms going down to her ankles. But then she continues this illusion further into her feet and high heels. And to further give this growth of crystal look, she added two big multi-spiked crystals on her shoulders. Her face makeup is perfection and her hair is just art. This is yet another Bright Sunny Cloud look. It’s so amazing that it’s one of the best promo looks I have seen from any season so far. Great job Shea!!

Will Shea be able to win another crown with her comedy and epic fashion?

The Vivienne

Our next queen is our only winner from a non-US franchise: The Vivienne. Her claim to fame is being the first ever winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. The only down side to winning the first season (and really any season) of this UK franchise is that her prize was to be flown to Hollywood where she starred in her own multi-episodic video series that is available to be seen on the WOW Presents Plus streaming app. This is due to the fact that the UK BBC Three channel cannot give out cash prizes due to it being a partly government sponsored TV channel. Since All Stars is a US show, The Vivienne is here to try to not just win, but win a cash prize that she quite honestly deserves (and should have won in the UK). Viv is known primarily for her portrayal of ex-US President Donald Trump in Snatch Game. Her vocal impression was almost identical and she “took the piss” out of his characterization during this challenge. The Vivienne also put out some amazing looks on the runway. My favorites being the dress she made out of VHS cassette tape and shoulder pads for the sewing challenge, her storm cloud look and her Queen Elizabeth look in which judge Michelle Visage thought Viv was wearing a prosthetic nose.

I can see what The Vivienne was going for in her promo look but I feel there could have been some changes. I think my favorite part of this look was the wig. I am a huge “Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert” fan so I can appreciate the huge plastic/foam wigs. I love how she added crystal stone highlights throughout the wig. The dress is quite nice too with all the crystals and stones. But I feel her nude illusion on the legs could have been a bit more sheer. When I think nude, I think sheer or skin-tone. In both respects, she misses the mark here. Despite the wig, I’m going to give The Vivienne a Rain Cloud.

Will The Vivienne be able to Snatch her second crown and first US win with another great character?

Trinity The Tuck

Our next queen up is Monét X Change’s All Stars 4 co-winner: Trinity The Tuck. Trinity first appeared on season 9 alongside fellow contestant Shea Couleé. Trinity is most known for having the best tuck in the business we call drag. She even performed a song for the talent show challenge during All Stars 4 in which she sang about how she makes her tuck so flawless and showed it off at the end. In addition to her tuck, Trinity is known for her comedy. This was a talent she discovered in season 9 for the princess/assistant challenge in which she created the character of Stanky the Starfish. This was taken further with her character in the acting challenge that season but I feel her apex so far was her portrayal of reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner. Her look was pretty dead-on but it was her retorts to RuPaul’s questions that made me laugh so much. Many fans of the series are inquisitive as to what made Trinity come back for another All-Stars season. Is she also trying to get over her tied win with Monét or does she just want to prove she’s the best of the best of the best?

Trinity gave a great look for the promo but I feel she could have done a bit of editing with her look. By that, I mean that her dress feels drowned by the crystals; especially as you go further down. I think that if she had eliminated half or even a quarter of the dripping/hanging crystals, it would have made the look so much fiercer. She definitely has the nude part down, especially since Trinity is known for showing body in a lot of her looks. I love the look mostly from the neck up. Her makeup is so amazing. And I love her wig with the big snowflake like crystals on the sides. But due to the over-abundance of crystals on the body, I will give Trinity a Rainy Cloud.

Does Trinity have enough comedic tricks up her sleeve to give her a second crown and her first solo win?

Yvie Oddly

Our last queen for All Stars 7 is definitely our odd-ball and we love her for it: it’s Yvie Oddly! Yvie won her crown back on Drag Race season 11. Just like fellow contestant Jaida, Yvie was robbed of the opportunity to tour or do much during her reign due to the fact that she won right when the pandemic was starting. As a result, she has done a lot more as winner after she passed her crown to Jaida. Yvie is known for being one of the quirkiest contestants and winners of Drag Race. Her claims to fame include her ability to contort her body in various positions (due to a condition she suffers from called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Type 3), her contagious and unique laugh, her extraordinary runway looks and her ability to be a lip-sync assassin. Yvie was also known for stirring the pot in the Werk Room and during RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. If there’s something on her mind, she will let her competitors know. But I would have to say that what I loved the most about Yvie were her looks and her lip-syncs. I think some of my favorite runway looks from Yvie included Orange Alert look, her Drag Family look with Scarlet Envy made out of jeans/denim but my most favorite is her look from the final lip sync for the crown with Brooklyn Heights. When she turned around towards the middle of the song and showed off her face on the back of her head, I lost it. I think all the fans (including myself) yelled out an in-sync “YAAAAASSSSS QUEEENNN!!!” at that moment.

Yvie’s promo look is definitely staying true to her unique and odd aesthetic. She gets a giant check from me when it comes to the nude illusion in the parts of her body that are exposed. It blends in well with her actual skin tone. I love the alternating stripes of sheer and crystals on her top that follows all over her asymmetrical sleeves and half mini-skirt. And I also really enjoy that her left arm has an extremely long sleeve while her right left from the hip down is covered up while her opposite arm & leg are exposed. And normally I would not like a work boot on a queen, but she designed it so well with crystals and got a flesh tone on the boot that it blends in so well with her skin. Most fans were thrown a bit by the crystal goggles in her short wig. I actually liked it a lot because it’s her odd flair to the look but at the same time accents with crystals. I’m giving Yvie a Sunny Cloud for this promo look.

Will Yvie be able to back-bend her way through her competitors to be crowned for the second time?

Where and When Can You Watch RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7?

Now that we know the contestants for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 7, you must be wondering, “where can I see the episodes?” It seems like All Stars is going to be Paramount+ streaming app show since season 6. So if you don’t have a subscription, I recommend signing up as soon as possible. The pretty cool part is that you can also catch all 6 seasons of All Stars on Paramount+ as well as seasons 1-12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Unfortunately the app only shows Untucked for All Stars seasons 5 and 6. But you get almost a lot of Drag Race on Paramount+ which makes it worth the monthly fee in my opinion. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 7 will begin airing episodes on Fridays starting on May 20th, 2022. I have my calendar marked and ready and I will have my rundown on the premiere episode ready for you guys to read by the end of that weekend.
